Carton House to host KPMG Women’s Irish Open
O'Meara Course, Carton House, A Fairmont Managed Hotel.
The luxurious Carton House, a Fairmont Managed Hotel, will be the venue for one of Ireland’s top golf tournaments, the KPMG Women’s Irish Open (29 August to 1 September). The magnificent Palladian manor is set on 1,100 acres of sweeping Kildare parkland and has two championship golf courses.
Since its reincarnation in 2022, the KPMG Women’s Irish Open has quickly become one of the most highly anticipated events in the Ladies European Tour and has been described by top Irish golfer Leona Maguire as ‘feeling like a Major tournament’. Maguire will be among a host of elite female golfers competing for the €400,000 prize fund.
Carton’s O’Meara course is a classic parkland course which meanders through ancient woodlands and skirts the banks of the River Rye. It’s a challenging course set within a beautiful landscape and attracts over 30,000 golfers every season.
Carton House, a Fairmont Managed Hotel, has played host to several Opens in the past and is also a popular destination for those seeking an exceptional golfing experience. As well as top-class golfing facilities, the hotel offers opulent accommodation options and several excellent eateries. Among these is the luxuriously decorated eighteenth-century Gold Salon, once beloved of Queen Victoria, where you can enjoy afternoon tea in magnificent surroundings. There is also a first-class spa and wellness centre.

The championship courses at Carton House, a Fairmont Managed Hotel, are among a multitude across the island of Ireland that have made the island a top golfing destination. Many are set within the grounds of premium hotels offering the perfect golfing getaway. Dromoland Castle, County Clare, which hosted the KPMG Women’s Irish Open for the last two years, is another spectacular golfing destination.
Royal County Down in Northern Ireland is the top ranked course on the island and is frequently voted the best in the world by golfing organisations. It sits at the foot of the Mourne Mountains alongside the luxurious five-star Slieve Donard Hotel. It will host the 2024 Amgen Irish Open this September.
And on the Causeway Coast, Royal Portrush is another top-ranked course and has been chosen to host The Open 2025. A new five-star hotel, Dunluce Lodge, is opening later this year situated alongside the fourth fairway of the course, providing ideal accommodation for those attending The Open or enjoying a golfing break on the island.
